Palms is a local favorite with retro themed music and decor. The bar has a low-key, working-class-style club with large weekend night crowds.
Great Place To Start Gay Pub Crawl
My friends and I started our night here, and we and a blast. Fun crowd with lots of cute boys(my best friend hooked up w/a guy who was into older men).We went back several times while we were in Sydney. Give it a try you'll thank me later!
80s, 90s music
Best Friday nights after 11pm. 80s, 90s music till late. Security and bartenders are friendly.
Assholes for bouncers
Went for drinks went outside for a cigarette and the bouncers who had too much Lebanese testosterone decided they needed to play we have the power as their dicks were obviously too small to please their sad hairy girlfriends wouldn't let us back in and refused to show their I'd as they knew they were just being power sad assholes don't bother going .. Go stonewall it's much more relaxed !!
Unpretentious and great music
Palms has no cover fee and plays mostly 80's and 90's music with a bit of current tunes thrown in. Always busy and can be very crowded as its a small venue. Get there around 10:30-11:00pm as any later and you'll be queuing up outside. Fun place, great music and no attitude.
There's a queue for a reason...
Palms is the club of choice for the Sydney gay boy next door. Secure in its trashy celebration of 80's/90's nostalgia, always full, with a friendly, unpretentious crowd, Palms is the Cyndi Lauper of Oxford Street clubs. Shamelessly kitsch, sometimes scary, but always fun and memorable.
fun queens
Fun queens thrashing around to 80-90 music, fun place
This is a place you either love or hate
I fall into the latter category. It's dark and free for a reason: there is an uncomfortable desperation emanating from a very large percentage of its patrons. I don't want to suggest that is true of everyone who goes there, but there is enough creepiness here to make me prefer almost any other venue on the strip. And the tackiness that one poster lauds is just, well, tacky. Some might like it; I don't. Aloha...
love it
guaranteed good night, retro music, cheap drinks, very friendly people.. One thing is you've gotta get there early, otherwise you'll have to line up for a while.

The best WORST gay bar EVER
Absolutely tacky, and RSA-esque decor, with limited drinking options (cheap white wine) It is AWESOME. Music: From the Spice Girls to The Clash. A gazillion times better than the stock standard cookie cutter gay bar across the road. Slightly alternative crowd. OH HOW I MISS IT. Many a wine glass smashed.
