Fourteen-year-old J has been on hormone blockers to delay puberty while they explore their gender identity, but now must decide if they want to transition.

On a weekend away to think things through, J spends time with two relatives grappling with identity issues of their own.

J's sister, Lauren is an installation artist considering a new life overseas, after being offered an artist residency in New Zealand. She has a secure day job, and her family don't understand her choice to be an artist. Lauren's partner Araz, is an Iranian immigrant. He wants to return home to see his family, but his visa situation makes this too risky. He feels he doesn't belong and is caught between two worlds.

Scattered with images of nature and fragments of poetry, Iranian director Anahita Ghazvinizadeh and executive producer Jane Campion use intersecting narratives to create a stunning meditation on the nature of gender, cultural identity, and the importance of family.
