Join a collection of activists who were present at our first Mardi Gras to mark the 40th anniversary of Sydneyâs internationally renowned pride festival. The 78ers â a group of activists who marched on June 24, 1978 and in subsequent protests to the arrests that night â are now well-known in local queer lore. But there is much more to their stories than this one parade, that one riot, those arrests. While that fateful night has gone down in history for the role it would play in developing Sydneyâs LGBTQI identity, most who were involved have been engaged in lifetimes of community work and activism. At this Queerstories special event, hear tales from our community heroes as they reflect on the last 4 decades of LGBTQI Australia.
All Queerstories events are auslan interpreted.
