IDAHOBIT (or IDAHOT) is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia and Intersexphobia, a global day of action held on May 17, aimed at drawing people’s attention to the discrimination still faced by LGBTIQA+ people and others who are same sex attracted, intersex and/or gender diverse. IDAHOT is not a single campaign; rather it is a moment that everyone can take advantage of to take small actions to make a big difference.
Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novella The Price of Salt about the burgeoning relationship between two very different women in 1950s New York. One, a girl in her 20s working in a department store who dreams of a more fulfilling life, and the other, a wife trapped in a loveless, moneyed marriage desperate to break free.
