International model for Armani and D&G, Yoav Reuveni swaps the catwalk for the film set to star in his first film. He plays Boaz, a 25-year-old student with a peaceful life in Tel Aviv with his beautiful girlfriend. Every day, Boaz waits by his mailbox in hope of hearing news about his scholarship application to Jerusalem’s Hebrew University. Instead, he begins to receive letters from an anonymous, obsessive male admirer. Who is the man who has invaded Boaz’s life, and how does he know so much?
Every man becomes a potential suspect as Boaz struggles to hide this clandestine correspondence from his girlfriend. The letters make Boaz extremely anxious – not just about being watched, but about his own sexual identify. He becomes haunted by moments when he felt attracted to other men – Nir, his fellow soldier, or the German man who slept above him in a youth hostel. As his girlfriend becomes implicated in the mystery, Boaz is forced to confront questions about his own sexual identity once and for all. Snails In The Rain is a tense and exciting drama that provides a fascinating window into the secret and sexy world of gay life in Israel in the late 1980s.
